Urraca, known as the “Lord of Wind, Rain, and Thunder,” bravely resisted the Spanish for nine years. He led his people proudly and defeated the Spanish on several occasions.

This tour brings you to some of the places that fell under Urraca’s control. The tour begins with a visit to Urraca’s statue at the Escuela Normal in Santiago and then continues on to San Francisco.

Once in San Francisco, you’ll visit the local church, which dates back to 1727. The church has baroque architecture and hand-carved altar pieces that fuse Spanish Catholicism with indigenous culture.

After touring the church, you’ll drive up the San Juan River Canyon and head to the La Yegunda Lagoon. You’ll enjoy a short hike through the forest and a refreshing swim at a waterfall.
